In honor of International women’s day and March being Women’s History Month, I thought i would delve into not only some of the Strong female characters I can identify with and look up to, but also, how the people in fanbases look up to, admire, get inspired by some of the fangirls, fanboys, and fan-theys favorites.
Happy International Women’s Day and Women’s History month!
In the first photo we have some of the wonderful women of the ‘Supergirl’ cast like Chyler Leigh, Nicole Maines and Others. The Second photo is Melanie Scrofano as Wynonna in the televised series ‘Wynonna Earp’ in the third photo we have Lena Luthor portrayed by Katie McGrath, in the fourth photo we have Katherine Barrell as Nicole Haught from ‘Wynonna Earp’ and in the fifth photo, it is the star herself, Supergirl, and finally we have another star from ‘Wynonna Earp’ Dominique Provost-Chalkley.
The impact Strong Independent Women can have on People
Why, yes, all these women; inside and out of their characters, are incredibly strong, powerful, independent (for the most part) females and icons. We are going to take a close look into Supergirl characters Lena Luthor and Kara Danvers. “When Lena Luthor was added to the show she had shown me that women are allowed to be powerful and can run a business just as well as a man if not better” quotes Supergirl fan. This right here shows the power that any woman can have, it’s just the matter of putting your mind to it and working hard. At the end of the day, we can all achieve anything but in order to do so, ask yourself:
• Am I willing to run the extra mile to get there?
• Am I willing to work tooth and nail to get to the place I want to get to?
• And lastly, am I willing to do whatever it takes to succeed and accomplish in what I want to achieve?
I give you this one piece of advice: When you are feeling doubtful or hopeless, ask yourself these three “Am I willing”’s and you tell yourself “I can do this and I will.”
You have to remember that not only today, not only this month, but every moment you are breathing is your time to shine. You have to reach for the highest stars and never look down, keep shining and reaching until you reach the brightest and highest point in the universe. Another fan states “Kara/supergirl has really impacted me because it showed me that no matter how strong of a person you are, it's okay to feel weak at times, and know that it's not your fault or that people are going to think less of you.” The fan continues on “Another thing is that she taught me to fight for what I believe in, and not let people hold me back because of their opinions.” Everyday you fight for what you feel is right, listen to your heart, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. There are many more women in todays media that are so inspiring that girls of all ages aspire to be just like them but if I were to sit here and list all those women I would be here for a LONG time. So remember all you ladies, you are STRONG, you are VALID, you are ENOUGH, you are LOVED, and you are WORTHY. And remember, from the words of Doc Holliday to Wynonna Earp: “She ain’t nobody’s but her own” and from Wynonna Earp herself: “I’m my own d*mn weapon.” To the reader reading this, I love you and you can accomplish any dream you have as long as you push hard for it, and you are willing to push and do whatever it takes if you want that dream of yours to become a reality.
